Every week, I have my students read and respond to an Article of the Week (a la Kelly Gallagher). They read and annotate an article, then write responses.
While responses are typically pretty open-ended, I like the idea of occasionally using Google Forms to test if they're really paying attention to what they're reading. I also like the idea of including a TWEDY (adopted from another AP history teacher, it means To What Extent Do You--agree or disagree with this quotation/decision/whatever). In that spirit, I have created the following reading response form about a topic this last week that is near and dear to my heart (and which has made me insanely homesick):
